Cool shot. Don't let the mediocre score get you down. After reading your photographer's comments I understand how this shot has to do with lighting ("I see this picture everyday at a certain time the light hits the building..."). Without these comments, though, a viewer (or voter!) may have a hard time understanding that lighting was such a key component to this image.

Looking at the voting histogram, the distribution of votes looks pretty normal, except for the spike of eight 1's. I'm guessing that some of these people simply didn't recognize that this is a photo of fencing headgear. It's a very abstract looking photo, and without the title, I'm pretty sure I never would have realized it was headwear. Looks more like a close-up of a microphone to me. Even with the help of the title, I'm sure some people didn't make the connection, especially since the average voter probably spends only a few seconds looking at each photo.

It's a very good photo, though. I really like it as an abstract. I like the light, composition, and texture of the metal.

I remember this one from when I first joined DPC. I just love how that little guy looks, and how he's poking his head up through the drain like that. Super creative, and perfectly executed, as always.

Surprised to see this one down in the 5.0xx range. It's a good photo, and the processing is really cool. I don't think I could have gotten your original to look like this. Well done.

Very good contrast in this one, with the light part of the plant contrasting against the stem and the rest of the photo. I like that the background is blurred, too.

Awwww... so cute. I like the tones in this one. I like the contrast of the dark hands against the light-toned chick. After reading your photographer's comments, I like the shot even more. I'd say this is under rated. Sorry to see it scored below 5.

Cute title. Your picture would have scored higher if it was bigger. The longest dimension (in your case, width) should be 640 pixels.
