I understand what you're trying to accomplish here but the illusion is lost with all of the characters on the same yellow stairs. It might have been better accomplished by placing some items on the red stairs to trick the eye on what's up and what's down. Changing the lighting to remove all the shadows would also help IMHO.

I really like this image... the angles must have been a nightmare to work out! It's a little obvious what you've done here, maybe a little more work with the angles would have made the illusion more believeable.
