whoa, freaky! could be right out of a hitchcock movie with all that foggy greyness! that having been said--i usually go for more contrasty B&W photos--but the monotone greys work for this picture. nice work!

first impression upon opening pic--WOW! the mood of this photo is fantastic, from the colors to the lighting to the composition. first of all the lighting is gorgeous. i love the way it highlights her hair and face, and brings out enough of the texture in her clothes to set apart from the background, which is wonerfully black, no hint of stray lighting--very nice work! the lighting is also contrasty enough to make a really nice black and white of this image i think--but then you would lose her gorgeous hair color. you did a good job with the levels adjustments--the only thing that looks remotely blown out is the fur on top of the wings and her red top, but not in a bad way. i like the slightly overexposed look and think it works here. also, you kept it from relaly affecting her skin which makes all the difference.

i also love the composition. i love how she sits on the side of the frame looking back towards her wings. actually, i get the impression that she is not really looking at anything, but just staring moodily into space, which enhances the impact of the photo even more for me. the only thing i may have done differently is to extend the comp. a little more to the left to incorporate of her knees and fingers, maybe even having the shot cropped on the other side of her knee to balance the black background on both sides, giving the photo a little more depth, but still leaving the wings as the focal point. the only other tiny nit-pic i have is the red border! not a fan really, i think it distracts from an otherwise gorgeous photograph. i dont really think it needs a border at all, personally! :)

great work mag, i really love this pic, and am really impressed with your abilty to capture mood and emotion so well in your people shots, which is really what portrait photography is all about!

this is such a pretty photo! the composition and framing are excellent, and the clarity of the feathers is wonderful. did you use a red light to take this shot? i am trying to figure out what the background is--carpet? not that it matters really--i am jsut trying to figure out if a red lamp was bounced against a white carpet to create the glowy background! i like the fact that the reds are so prominent--it really makes the blues and greens jump out at you. i do find myself wondering tho, what the same shot might look like on a darker background? then those colors would REALLY pop! technically, this photo is well done--the aperture setting combined with the monochromatic feathers and background really give this pic a nice dreamy feel. nice work!

This is such a great idea for this shot! I am immediately drawn to the lines and framing of this photo. I love the angle of the building and the contrasting circle created by the miror. the only thing i might have done differently in the composition is to crop out the bottom part of the building to not only get rid of the sign (which is kinda funny in a big-brother kind of way!) but to knock the mirror off center. i say that because the mirror is such a neat part of this photo--it has its own frame and everything--it just seems like it should be made to stand out a little more. the angle of the building behind creates an awesome backdrop, tho. technically it looks fine to me--no complaints here! i find myself wondering tho, how it would look if you did all the cropping things i mentioned, then converted to black and white with the levels jacked a bit? (you already have some cool contrast in the sky)
just me being curious really--i just think that this photo has all the cool angles and lines that make B&W photography so cool!
all in all, this is a great photo--very nice work!
