Means Blue Light To Me....

Hello from the critique club

An interesting image that contributes to the challenge.

A pleasing landscape and interesting interpretation of this effectively open challenge. Your composition is good with the walkway forming the focal point and the still waters have duplicated it nicely with its reflections. The blue light dominates and the silhouettes of the trees make a pleasing frame, the foreground tree however is a little detrimental to the effect. Overall a nice result but a chainsaw could have been useful here Drake!

These ‘gators are never gonna be hungry are they! Another great action shot Ronnie, you wanna be careful, if you get much closer you or your camera or both could end up alongside the poor old red eared slider, heaven forbid! Probably not your best image in this series but certainly another very competent image, well done.

An appealing abstract made by the lighting from the sunset. The ripples are varied and form some interesting shapes with some lovely dark and light shades all randomly conjoining with each other. Whilst the image works reasonably well I think a much closer shot concentrating on the lovely random shapes of a much smaller section would have made a stronger image with more impact.

An interesting image that meets the challenge well

A pleasing composition Marcel, the shape of the water in motion is appealing together with its reflections. The person gives a sense of scale and is nicely positioned but the lamppost is not so good but there is little within the rules that you could do about that. What lets it all down for me is the serious banding in the sky which is most surprising given the minimal editing rules, it really is immediately obvious to a detrimental level. I quite like the building its position and lighting it does add to the image.

Congratulations Konrad on your blue and winning this challenge. The motion blur in the water is most appealing together with your considered composition including the foreground rock around which the waters are spilling was a sensible decision. I do have one criticism in that the sea’s horizon appears to be leaning to the right a little. The clouds in the sky are a nice addition to the overall result, all in all most pleasing.

I like the abstract nature of this water in motion, you have a nice diagonal that gives the image a more dynamic feel. I also like the tones you have ranging from the near white of the crest to the darker right though I wish there was a little more of that to balance it up a bit more. All in all really quite appealing, thanks Janine.

Well thanks for broadening my eduction Marcel I hadn’t realised VvG had painted irises at all. The flowers are nicely lit and stand out well against the background. Your composition though somewhat tight is appropriate for the subject. The right of the background is somewhat distracting, if it had been possible a better position would have been the flower against the dark background with the distant flowers to the left and a wider frame.

What an abundance of attractive flowers. Therein lies part of the problem for me, there is just so much of it throughout the frame I am finding it a little difficult to concentrate on the main subject. I think there were two possibilities here, one to isolate the foreground and softer focus flowers against a plainer background or to isolate the front flowers alone against the distant soft focus repetitive background, for me either of these would have been more effective. However, its still a lovely entry Janine, thanks.

This is all about the lighting. The lone flower nicely spotlit by the soft sunlight against the darker natural background works really well, it stands out like the attractive beacon it is. Your composition is also very complimentary to the subject and its position in the natural setting, lovely. Well taken Anton.

A lovely portrait that is always going to appeal, very tenderly done. I have to say I’m not too keen on desalt so I’m pleased that you haven’t completely desaturated all the colour in the girl, here lovely rosy cheeks add a pleasing balance to the red of the rose. The blown highlights have hit her hair but not its a small price to pay for the important detail you have captured in her face. Its an image you will be able to treasure for a long while to come, well done Mark.
