An appealing image that contributes well to the open challenge
Your panoramic study has some lovely colours and detail with some good pin points of light to highlight the foliage and in particular the bows of the boat. I like the detail of the boat with the lit bows and the thrust of the prop clearly evident it is moving through the water with some haste and determination, hence your apt title. The storm cloud sky is and essential and very effective element of the scene. Each to their own opinion but I have to disagree with one of your commenters I think this composition and crop works really well. |

A lovely bird study that contributes well to the open challenge
A very well executed image that captures the essential detail of the bird really well. The important part of the image is good sharp focus on the eyes which has been nicely achieved and in turn the feather detail is clearly showing through this together with its lovely markings makes it a most appealing image. The pose is good too, I am not familiar with this bird perhaps this is a normal pose but it is certainly unusual in my experience. The onoy minor point I have to agree with flaherma are the two dust spots to the right of the frame, once seen they do become a distraction and would benefit from rectification. Well done for your high score and placing Anton. |

An appealing landscape that contributes well to the open challenge
This has your hallmark written all over it Janine, another well executed landscape with that extra something that makes it so appealing which in this instance is probably the golden glow of the foliage and its reflection on the right shore of the lake. It̢۪s well composed with good DOF and clarity throughout although the whites are pushed to their limits it is appropriate for the scene, indeed there is a lovely range of tones throughout. I can see Georges point and concur but it is a minor issue that would benefit from removal. Thanks for another lovely entry Janine. |

Above the Valeby riotComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge fully
An interesting write-up of the difficulties posed using the lens that you were, a sensible and effective way round the problem. I don̢۪t see the perceived slant on the bridge as a problem at all it is perfectly reasonable to expect to see such a result in real life. If you can get back there to repeat the shot I suspect this will be looking glorious now with more of its autumnal colours add to the golden glow of that lovely bridge. A lot of your images, this included, bring back fond memories from my canal boating days, thanks Eugene. |

A lovely atmospheric landscape that works even better with the mono conversion. Well done for exercising patience and waiting for the break in the weather to include the village which not only adds interest but also a sense of scale to this grand scene. You have a nice range of tones throughout, all in all a very pleasing image, well done Jonathon |

An interesting image that meets the challenge fully
Regardless of the opinion of one of your commenters this still remains a classic image for good reason. Technically it is up to your normal high standards though I do agree with Neat, the greens, reds and bright yellow are very dominant in a near mono cityscape. Your title reflects the current heightened tensions of the continuing terrorist threat that France in particular is enduring. A very worthy score and result for a very worthy image, well done Janine. |

Window Cleaning High-Rise Buildingsby clickodakComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge
Your high vantage point has enabled you to add interest by illustrating how precarious a simple task like cleaning windows can be when faced with a high-rise block. In choosing to do so you have made the building dominate the image and whilst the left wall is interesting this face is rather dull and has the effect of reducing the overall impact. Given that the left of the image is much more dynamic a more effective option would have been to compose the image with the end wall on the right and the cityscape in the rest of the frame still fulfilling the challenge brief. Thanks for your entry Marcel |

Dear Papa's Cabinby snafflesComment: Hello from the critique club
An excellent entry that fully meets the challenge.
Very spookily done Susan and congratulations on your high score and HM, well done. You̢۪ve done a great job of the post-processing to create a very convincing and very spooky poster that would look great outside any cinema, bound to attract the public̢۪s attention and curiosity. I love the red font and shadows, the face at the window, the windows themselves the dominant colours its all working together very well. It̢۪s all already been said buy your commenters who rightly appreciate a good job well done. |

When the Rain Starts to Fallby Ja-9Comment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge
Most appropriate to choose one of the most famous landmarks in the world! This unusual composition is a refreshing change from the normal compositions we often see, it feels much more dynamic with the people and the bird. Its a shame there wasn̢۪t some level of water in the base of the structure to perfectly reflect the tower though I do like the subtle suggestion of reflection we have here. The tower with its head in the clouds helps to accentuate its height making it even more grandiose. Congratulations Janine on the high score and placing. |

walking on the seaby HoghemaruComment: Hello from the critique club
An interesting image that meets the challenge
The pier is indeed a notable landmark that blends in well with the tones of the pier itself and those of the sunset and its reflection in the water. The composition of such a shot is determined by the structure itself and leaves little room for anything really creative apart from using the lower third, as you have done, but I̢۪m sort of wondering how it would have looked using the upper third with water dominating the lower half as opposed to the rather bland sky. It all feels rather deserted though I can see its not, I think waiting for a person walking their dog into the frame from the right would have livened it up too. Sorry for the lack of comments during the challenge Fabio, I hope this makes up for it. |
