pumpkin patch.jpgby mhphotoComment: I love how the light and shadow blends to make the right half of the wheelbarrow vanish. What firts caught my eye was the pull of the pumpkin... like a U2 concert, or should I say "Smashing Pumpkin's", with the large shapes on stage before crowded fans. The rustic wheel blends well in size and shape to the orange balls. Our group love pumkins so if you want high scores from us (as noted in your recent forum remark)...expect a stong vote in January when we return from Xmas vacation. Good luck in your first challenge entry.

Life's Simple Pleasuresby RikkiComment: As did GentleSoul I searched your portfolio and this is my favorite. I love the frank stories behind the photos and your humour such as in the bike race with a friend. Mostly I enjoy the peace and strenth of this type of work above. My first favorite photo before understanding what a dpchallenge favorite even meant was a coffee pot brewing coffee. I can really sense the pleasure of the quenching thirst. I will add it to our favorite list so that our participants can react to your caption. I somehow would like to see a video clip of the whole scene including a view of you taking the shots as part of the frame. Keep shooting LTS.

Dirt Doodling by glad2badadComment: Phil thinks this is "a pretty good photo" and he would like to see it in full color. I wonder if you captured this image in color and changed it to black and white during editing? If so, we can consider buying a copy from you in the DCPrints. This would be an experiment for the very first time ever. Get back to us please and keep on shooting great photos. From one of your favorite group of fans. by Donald |

watertruck.jpgby mistkerlComment: This is the kind of photo I enjoy. A person being himself doing simple activity. It would be difficult to invent such a caption. I loved the foreground oranges and reflectors, perhaps busy but full of interesting shapes to explore. I noticed the background wire at odds with the flash of color and the unique truck top hug. I hate the pinks and baby blues of the boxes. A different angle, crop or effect that decreases the flat two dimensional feeling would be a bonus but dpchallenge experts can help you as we at CTC are on a patient learning curve. Hope to see more entries from you in the future. Congratulations with your 1st photo entry result.
Keep reaching,

The Aftermath of Warby mistkerlComment: As a thumbnail I thought I was looking at blueberries. Then I saw the Garbage challenge followed by your incredible photo subject. It is so difficult to decide what to accept as unpublished or sanitized images coming from Irak here in Canada. Nobody want's to be stuck in what I describe in your photo as the dry mud. War horror is implied by your damaged "fruits". I think that color is important due to blue also meaning sad when hardship strikes and a style of song that reveals or heals inner pain. It is also UN cap identifying ultimate goal of peace. Great photo. Thanks for sharing,

Milky Wayby mtppComment: "Original idea was to take picture of a milking cow. Unfortunately all cows were on pasture... Not too happy with the outtakes."
I too was attracted by your great title. Take chances girl. Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will still be among the stars of the Milky Way. Very plain photo but it put a great big smile on my face...even as a tiny thumbnail. by Donald |

These very well trained talented street performers are part of the landscape here in Ottawa and are much more enjoyable than our usual tourist attractions. Meeting them is like being on the set of a movie. They leave you wanting to take their autographs.

Light Up the Skyby mtppComment: I noticed your post in a forum and was surprised to see such a difficult low light caption with interesting composition and clarity. The simple fact that you depicted three explosions with seperate charactaristics demonstrates a skillful eye. The vertical structure is distracting being on a slant towards the right side. My stereotype of fireworks leaves me hungry for more color. I did not vote in the shutter speed challenge but you would have gotten a 8 from me. I have yet to master the ability to take a clear nightime photo. Good luck and enjoy this site as much as we have. by Donald |
