I really like the pose. It does make it more interesting, and I don't think the lighting's flat at all. My only wish is that they didn't look so ticked off. I think if they were standing in that exact pose, but looked pleasantly into their own thoughts, they would look like they had a connectedness that transcends having to be looking at each other or talking. But they look reeeeeeeeeally mad at each other.

But my vote: very successful photography!

I love photos like this. Living in such a snow-deprived place like Texas, it looks like a dream to be able to get out and go for an invigorating (except in my case it would be "exhausting") hike in the snow. We're going snow shoeing at the end of February -- so it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy looking at this :)
