The Urban Jungle Headquarters.by docpjvComment: I really like this. That splash of green against that dramatic sky make a great contrast, and the trees give scale to that massive building you are looking up at. Another one that is quite underrated in my opinion!

Warning Towerby SherwinJamesComment: I think this is such a striking image. The dark sunset tones add appealm and the angle is very striking. I'm surprised this wasn't scored much much higher!

Cormorants at Sunsetby tinky2Comment: Wow Dawn! This is an amazing shot! I am amazed that this one isn't on the first page! It's so full of a "story" with those two squabbling with each other, and the other one looking on with morbid interest. ..just like people do! Man, I love this! This is going right into my favorites folder!
And it seems I remember you saying on the last day that you had to go out and find something to shoot for this challenge! Even more amazing! You certainly found a good one :)

The Millby gullComment: Well.. .I have to chime in and say that I totally disagree with Imagineeer and Kemptonreporter. I think this photo is exactly why good photographers need to not be so anal and rigid about any "rule" (and the rule of thirds one is so incredibly over-emphasized here). . .and realize that a great photo can take all sorts of compositions. It's the eye of the great ones that "sees it" and throws the "rules" out the window. This photo is incredible, and the perspective of that upward winding cobblestone road against that dramatic sky with these beautiful blue tones. I think if ever there was a deserving blue ribbon this is it! And way to go, waiting till you got "the one", entering it and winning blue on your first call! You rock, and this is totally awesome! The Window by bucketComment: I AM so happy THIS WON a ribbon. It was definitely one of my top 3 favorites in this challenge! I'd say, what separates you from those that are technically perfect -- the real pros -- is that YOU have an award winning, 2nd-place ribbon and they don't :) CONGRATULATIONS! This is just awesome! |
