yep, i blew this one by not knowing what i was doing and not allowing enough time to figure it out. top it off with too much dust on the sensor, and well, the score i got is the one i deserved!

the expression is nice, but the lighting is way off on the balance of the image. the tilt needs to be corrected. for a stock image to be used, it has to have an audience. to shoot stock, you have to have an idea of the audience you are trying to reach before you shoot the image. if you simply go out and shoot a bunch of images and hope to find some stock value in something you shot, you are wasting your time. a better use of time would be to look through magazines at the images that illustrate the articles, then make up your own inventory of images to shoot, then go shoot them. the key is: don't shoot first; plan first.

thanks for the comments and votes, everyone! of course, i thought this would ribbon ;-) no, in reality, i had no idea how it would come across, but i did feel it was one of my better efforts. when i get some time, i'll try to play with it some more.

yeah, i winced and grinned when i saw this. and i, too, had missed the one in humour. i really feel for the next person who does this. you did a good job with this. i like the angle you took, and your cheese color definitely is more inviting than mine.

auugh, don't you just love it when the weather changes?! i'm glad you went on and submitted...it definitely gave me a grin. i'll give it a 7, just because i know there's something recognizable back there. i'll also suggest you go rent jim jarmusch's first movie, "Stranger Than Paradise"; there is this one really incredible scene that takes place on the edge of lake erie, and that scene was the first thing i thought of when i saw this image. good luck.

interesting take on the challenge, shooting a landmark from the inside. while this is a beautiful image (and one that i am sure was not that easy to capture), it doesn't really convey a sense of the landmark itself. hopefully for you the voters won't hammer you for your vision.
