Articulationby jjbeguinComment: i can only begin to imagine what i am looking at here... yes, you have achieved a bokeh effect, but i am not finding the subject all that engaging. |

Fresh Baked Snackby Zap228Comment: while i appreciate your effort here, this is more of a macro with a shallow dof than an image with good bokeh. |

In The Jenkins' Front Yardby davidbedardComment: yes, you have achieved a bokeh effect, but it is more of a distraction than an enhancement for your subject. the subject and general composition are interesting, but the amount of detail found in the background is more visual clutter than complimentary. |

Lake Skatingby smoon273Comment: while i appreciate your effort here, i think that it is falling a bit short. for bokeh to work, it has to compliment and enhance the subject. here, the skater is the dominant subject, and it is oof. the foreground elements are just that, even though they are what is in focus. with some judicious cropping, you actually could have pulled a strong entry out of this image (ie, if you had zeroed in on the set of leaves on the right hand side). hope this helps. |

Rayby sherComment: this is an interesting image with good bokeh. i appreciate how hard this must have been to capture without undue lens flare--good work. all the diagonals make this interesting to view. i just hope that the subdued colors aren't too subtle to catch the viewer/voter's attention. you possible could have had a little more dof, as the background, not the subject matter, is what is providing your bokeh. good luck! |

cactus.jpgby robdocComment: yes, you have bokeh, but, for me, the way it is producing a split horizon takes away from what could be an excellent image. if you had changed perspective to have either the green or the tan as the whole background, this would have rocked. excellent focus, lighting, choice of colors, and dof, as well as an interesting subject. good luck! |

December Coneflowerby rileyComment: while i appreciate your effort here, i am finding your background more of a distraction than a complimentary enhancement to your subject. i think your image would be a lot stronger if you cropped off the left 30% of the image (hold your hand up to the screen to see what i mean). the lightness leads my eye away from the subject and ultimately off the image. |

The Fence By The Millby space amoebaComment: while i appreciate your effort here, your background is more of a distraction than a complimentary enhancement for your subject. i think your image would be a lot stronger if you cropped off the right half (hold your hand up to the screen and you'll see what i mean). |

Coffee in Venice?by blancericComment: this has something of a bokeh effect, but even with the red cup, the background is more the subject of the image. |
