Memories of Autumnby L1Comment: i love the colors here, laurie, but think this image would probably have a lot to offer without quite as much processing. |

Orchidsby aznymComment: beautiful image, excellent bokeh. i wonder, though, if this will catch with the voters...there is something about the saturization that makes it feel a tad over processed. |

Silencedby KDOComment: while i appreciate your effort here, i think your background is more of a distraction than an image-enhancing element. i love the colors and basic composition, but believe that if your background had been sky and clouds only, without the mountains, this would have rocked!! good luck. |

Holding on to lifeby mattrixComment: excellent entry, all the way around. lovely colors, detail, composition, and great bokeh. i just hope the voters don't kill you for not providing a more \"technical\" bokeh. good luck! |

"Nevermore"by zeuszenComment: this had all the potential in the world, but i don't think this entry is going to fare to well. compositionally, there the subject is looking away from the negative space, which draws the eye away from all that space, which makes it basically useless. so, to start with, you could crop off the left 40% of the image and it would be stronger. the lighting is just a tad too strong, which is giving the image an artificial feel, almost as if this was a stuffed bird. the dof is a bit too shallow, making the transition from the brightly lit feathers into the oof ones a bit disconcerting. and, to top it off, even though you have achieved bokeh (in that you have a background that does enhance and compliment your subject), i imagine that it is not the type of bokeh most voters are looking for. at this point, let me say that i hope this helps, and i wish you good luck! |

Red Rock Benchesby jjbates4Comment: yes, you have achieved a bokeh effect, but i don't find that it is really enhancing your subject. as for the subject, something about the lighting is throwing me off. if this was shot at red rocks outside of denver, shame on you...there is such incredible backgrounds there that you surely could have found a shot that would have rocked the voters here... |
