ok, i am voting this challenge in 2 passes. in this pass, you will get a partial comment and a score. then i will come back to comment again. if you have any problem whatsoever with this comment, pm me and let me know. otherwise, take it with a grain of salt...i'm not trying to be a know-it-all, i'm just explaining where i'm coming from in voting this challenge. and, if this comment is NOT helpful (of if you think i'm full of $#!+), don't mark it helpful.

billboards are a science unto themselves. a lot of research has gone into determining just how much information a person can digest and retain in specific time spans. they use this information to develop formulas for determining the number of words and letters to use on billboards, as well as their sizes. they also determine the size and number of visual elements to include.

the graphics/photograph on a billboard are designed to get the point across in a moment. on the road, a driver will have less time with a billboard than a voter will give your image. this is a key element in the challenge: composing a shot that will get its point across quickly and succintly. along those lines, a strong composition will probably have few details and make strong use of negative space.

what an image! nicely seen and composed. i am sure you went out on this climb just for this challenge. as for the challenge, i think this definitely works, and i hope to see it on the front page. good luck!

nice idea for a billboard. clean, succinct, and quickly gets the message across. the image does seem a bit flat, on close inspection, but from a distance, who's going to notice. one minor compositional consideration: another 'rule' for billboards is they are typically laid out left to right, with the graphics to the left and the verbiage to the right. worth mentioning, but not anything that would affect your score from me. good luck!

hard to go wrong when one of the leading marketers in the world does the work for you! perfect type of shot for the challenge. my only complaints have to do with the it looking a bit scuffed up. all the same, nice work. good luck!

excellent idea for a billboard, and a most worthy cause (all four of our pets were rescued). the lighting is a bit harsh at this time of day, but fortunately, you don't have any competing distracting elements, so the message still comes across. the composition is perfect for a billboard. good luck!

this is a nice idea for a billboard, and i think it works to get your message across effectively. i like the background treatment. good luck!

this is a beautiful image that i think would work well on a billboard to get your message across. it has a bit more detail than what would normally be found in a billboard, but not enough to really complain. it is simple and succinct, and that is key for this format.

while i'm sure you've been beaten up by the size police, i'll refrain from piling on, but i will suggest that going forward, take those 'recommendations' a bit more too heart while setting up your shots and doing your editing. this can be a pretty tough crowd. good luck!

this is a nice idea for a billboard and a very true cause (all four of our pets were rescued). as an advertising image, though, i think this would be more effective in a print ad than on a billboard, as the soft focus and short dof make it hard to quickly see the whole image in a short glance. this would have to be placed somewhere where the viewer would have ample time to take the image in, which is a bit contrary to what billboards are designed to do. i hope you haven't been beaten up to much by the size police, but the challenge description is something to consider when preparing to take your shots. good luck!

interesting idea for a billboard, and i have seen some similar, but, i think the image has a bit too much detail to really work at 60 mph. maybe if it was placed somewhere where the viewer had ample time to view it, it might be more effective.

as an image, this is beautiful, and it would probably work very well in a print ad. on a billboard, though, i think it has a bit too much detail to be appreciated, unless it was positioned somewhere where the viewer has ample time to take it in. this is a tough shot to make work on a billboard, especially given the editing constraints of the challenge. good luck!

this is a nice idea for a billboard, and a very true cause (all four of our pets were rescued). as a billboard image, it would have to be somewhere where the viewer has ample time to take in the whole image. even though there are only two subjects, there is sufficient detail that it doesn't come across very quickly. this is a hard thing to do in a challenge, where you are really limited as to the editing you can do. all the same, nice effort, and good luck!
