Just so you all know, I climbed up about 50 feet and then clipped into a botl and hung out taking photos for about an hour while my friends climbed up.
No, he is not free soloing. I just cloned out his rope for a more dynamic effect. Obviously it worked cause more than a few people have had their hearts in their throats over this one! Everything was done very safely and we all had a great day.
Thanks very much for all of your helpful comments and critiscms (sp?). I have learned more than you can possibly imagine in a few short weeks since joining DPC.

Excellent composition and great overall shot. Gives the impression the climber is quite high, even if he is not (I am looking at this figuring out finally, that he could be at the beginnng of a climb that started there.) But it's a great shot. One of my favs for a ribbon.

This really does look expansive and looming enough to be high above the highway on a billboard calling to you! Perfect composition within the frame. Well done, and you are much braver than I (and so is he!).

Despite some unnecessary haloing of editng round his back this is a very well composed and dramatic shot. Great focus. You only really needed the 'Wanna Get High?' part of the title though. The rest is just ugly!

ok, i am voting this challenge in 2 passes. in this pass, you will get a partial comment and a score. then i will come back to comment again. if you have any problem whatsoever with this comment, pm me and let me know. otherwise, take it with a grain of salt...i'm not trying to be a know-it-all, i'm just explaining where i'm coming from in voting this challenge. and, if this comment is NOT helpful (of if you think i'm full of $#!+), don't mark it helpful.

billboards are a science unto themselves. a lot of research has gone into determining just how much information a person can digest and retain in specific time spans. they use this information to develop formulas for determining the number of words and letters to use on billboards, as well as their sizes. they also determine the size and number of visual elements to include.

the graphics/photograph on a billboard are designed to get the point across in a moment. on the road, a driver will have less time with a billboard than a voter will give your image. this is a key element in the challenge: composing a shot that will get its point across quickly and succintly. along those lines, a strong composition will probably have few details and make strong use of negative space.

Excellent shot. Love the angle & choice of lens. Works geat. Would have been even better if the top right had more detail - still my favourite.

Good image with room for the caption. There is a good sense of space for the climber to fall into as well which enhances the danger aspect of the sport.
