Tiny Minuetby khrysComment: as much as i like the greenery, i'm having a hard time finding a strong subject. the centered portion of the mage just isn't that commanding, and the lines in the image all lead away from the center and out of the image altogether. |

Good Morningby jmcotterComment: ay-yi-yi, that sun is bright--it is actually making the image hard to look at...
interesting juxtaposition, with the streetlight at one end of the arm and the sun at the other, but other than that, there's not much more to the image to keep me hanging around. |

New and improved Froggy McFrog: I hope anyways!!!by wheelz3333Comment: while this is a cute guy, nicely lit and shot, there's just something about the image that seems a bit off, and i can't really put my finger on it. there's just something missing that would take this from 'aww cute' to 'oh, wow.' |

Graffiti Gooseby christinamtoddComment: i hope you are getting some good and useful comments on your entry. i am sure there are some things that could be done to improve the image from a technical standpoint, but i don't think 'technical' is what is holding your score back. while it does get your attention, it doesn't really keep it. |

Tolaga Bay Wharfby RobroComment: this image has potential. love the lines and angles. don't you just hate it, though, when the skies are interesting everywhere but where you want to shoot! i do like the detail work up underneath, and i really like how you brought those details out without it looking like an overdone shadow/highlight adjustment. good luck in the challenge! |

Abandoned homeby biggisComment: what a wild image. this takes me back and forth between wanting to be there and feeling glad that i'm not. you have really captured a great sense of aloneness. the only thing i find disconcerting about the presentation is the treatment of the skies--they just don't look natural. |

Lindaby L2Comment: what a fun shot. probably not the best entry for a free study, but all the same, so what? it's what you chose to enter, and i hope you're getting some good feedback. i can't offer much in the way of technical advice, but i will say that the image seemed a bit stronger when i cropped off the top 25%. hope this does well for you. good luck! |

Light and Shadowby dgordon412Comment: interesting perspective you've captured here. it's a shame the shadow areas are so dark, as it makes it almost impossible to get a feel for what is there. the contrast between light and dark are so strong that they rob the image of the details that really hold this viewer's attention. |

A House in the Countryby dahkotaComment: this looks like it has a lot of potention, but my initial reaction is that it is a bit over-processed. the cloud burning does add drama, but it is a bit uneven. the building itself looks more like a painting than a photograph, as if something just sucked all the texture out of it. and this is a shame, because it does like like there could be a very captivating image there... |

Fall Colors on Spring Dayby msdoubletroubleComment: as cute as this guy is, this image is not what i would consider a really strong free study entry. there might some things you could do from a technical standpoint to improve the image, and hopefully you're getting some comments in that direction, but, on the whole, this doesn't really have the 'wow' factor that can make a point or two difference in the results. good luck. |
