excellent capture, love 'the look'. probably could have stood to have pushed the saturization up slightly and sharpened it just a hair, but, all the same, great work, expect to see this close to the top.

top-shot! fully expect to see this on the front page. the great colors really make this (in addition to the spot-on camera work).

i imagine you are getting quite hammered for both your take on the challenge and photo quality. just don't take it personally. if you are interested in scoring better, though, you might want to check out this thread...

better luck next time!

yes, you have captured the action of a sport here, and you should get points for that. if this isn't scoring high enough for you, here's some ideas about this picture and the challenge:

1) try to get more people in the picture
2) try a different perspective (like moving closer to a pole, and shooting down the net).
3) if your camera has the controls, use them to focus on the subject, but to blur the background

the thing to do with these challenges is to shoot a lot. and i mean A LOT. even if you aren't thinking about challenges--SHOOT A LOT! practice is the only way you will learn to control your camera and how to compose and capture great and interesting images. if you are shooting for a challenge, try lots of different ideas. if you are out simply shooting, keep the challenges in the back of your mind, but shoot like crazy--then, hopefully, you'll wind up with a shot that can do well in the challenge. the biggest mistake you can make, though, is to simply quit...

better luck next time!

i imagine you are getting hammered for both photo size and quality. looks like it would have been a good action shot. just don't take any of it personally, and keep on trying! also, there are tutorials as well as tons of threads in the forums about sizing images. better luck next time!

interesting photograph, interesting take on the challenge. if this doesn't finish where you would like it to, don't take it personally. keep on trying! you have the equipment and imagination to get where you want, but you won't get there if you quit...good luck!

beautiful image, absolutely shoe-horned in. i imagine, though, this will be the highest scoring image of the 'doesn't meet the challenge' group. if you're interested, you might want to check out this thread...

my guess is that you are getting beaten up for photo quality. just don't take it personally. you CAN improve if you want to, but you won't if you quit. it takes practice and commitment, but you can do it. these challenges can be somewhat brutal, but if you stick with it, you can get where you want to be.

the most important thing is to take advantage of your digital camera. take as many pictures as you can--it doesn't cost anything. keep practicing, and you'll learn how to capture what you see. once you learn to control your camera, you can start working on the creative side. good luck!
