beautiful image. my guess is that this is a great example of being victimized by speed-voting, where a large majority of voters don't take the time to try to connect with the image.

this is also a great example of the artist rendering their vision, vs the artist playing to the masses. i imagine that significant cropping off the left and bottom would have made a full point's difference in the voting, but i also imagine that is not what was intended here.

as is, though, this will fall into the stack of images that will be enjoyed by the lucky few who bother to seek images out--which is too bad for those who chose to fly right by it.

excellent use of flash, but not keen on the background--too distracting. even though you were lower than the skater, it appears that you were standing up. probably could have made this more dynamic if you had been kneeling or laying down.
