this perfectly captures the spirit of the challenge. i think the processing is the only thing that will hold it down in the scoring. it looks a little flat, like it could use a bit more contrast. a bit of a black border could set it off, as well.

my problem with this image is that i'm not really finding a subject here. it seems to be more of a haphazard shot of some buildings in bad lighting than anything else. maybe as a bw it might be more interesting. or shot from an angle that includes more of the lower buildings juxtaposed with the taller ones?

as an image, this spot might have some potential, but the water is not that appealling at the moment. the blown out area needs to be reigned in a bit in order to bring out the true beauty you were trying to capture (and, unfortunately, that is something that you can't really do under basic editing rules). as a challenge entry, this is somewhat lacking in that there is not much context to relate it to 'early early in the morning'. if this doesn't do as well as you would like, don't give up; just keep on trying and learning, and you'll get where you want to go.

as a challenge entry, this offers me no context for time (other than the title). as an image, i can barely recognize the subject as being candles. the coloring and post-processing seem rather haphazard and without purpose. this really looks like it would have been better un-submitted.
