nice sunset shot, but this doesn't really hit it for me. the technical concept of backlighting requires there to be a subject, and here, there is none. a simple lifeguard stand probably could have caught the light nicely...

this is a lovely shot, but i'm afraid i'm going to have to pass on voting on it. technically, it is more side-lit than backlit. if it were truly backlit, you'd see evidence of the lighting coming around from the right side of the head, as well. it is too beautiful an image to slam it with a DNMC vote, but, by the same token, i don't think it's fair to the others to score it high. so, at least for now, i'll leave this comment without a vote...
