ok, is your score where you wanted it to be? is it where you thought it would be? did you look at the results of candid II, or the first one? did you see anything that would inspire you to take this interpretation of the challenge? i'm asking rhetorically, because i really can't imagine why you would chose to submit this image. photographically, this needs work, as well. the focus is off, the lighting is off, and the composition doesn't really make the most of the subject. if your score isn't where you would like it to be, you might want to read this thread.

ay-yi-yi. yeah, this is a candid opportunity, but how did you shoot it. this looks like a crop of something you shot from a mile away, under very bad conditions. i bet if you had approached him and talked with him a moment, you probably could have gotten a fantastic shot, as well as had a meaningful engagement with another human being. as is, i feel completely isolated from him, like i'm looking at an empty image full of potential.

(as a side note, when i'm out shooting around, i carry a case of water in the car, not just for me, but also to share with people like this. you never know who you're gonna meet or if you can help them, but, all the same, everybody gets thirsty...)

oh, man, i'm sure there's a story here, but not in the way you've presented it. would love to see the face and its expressions. as is, you've given me a small snapshot of someone you saw on the street, but nothing more that would keep my interest.

cute, maybe, but not to me. there's just something off about this image. maybe if you had cropped in tighter to the face, leaving off the hand in motion. even though the subject is absolutely engrossed in whatever has her attention, you haven't given me any context for enjoying what's going on.

i'm sure there's a story here somewhere, but you've put most of the burden on me and my imagination to draw it out, rather than offering much in the way of imagery. it's a guy walking away from me. nothing of interest to clue me in as to where he's going or where he's coming from? more than likely, you could have gotten a better shot at the bus stop.

focus is way off. the subject looks like it could have some potential, and the lighting looks like it could be interesting, but not the way you have it here. what could be done to make this better? well, it depends on what you're trying to do--improve your photography, or improve your dpc scores? if you want to improve your photography, well, keep working at it. if you want to show motion, you have to have absolute razor sharp focus with good panning. if you want to freeze action, you'll have to bump up your shutter speed to at least 1/250 (as well as have good focus). compositionally, this is ok, but it would be stronger with the subject's face, rather than their backside.

on the other hand, if you're looking to improve your scores, you might want to read this thread.

yes, this is a candid portrait, but there's not enough character in her young face to tell me anything. her expression is basically emotionless, which leaves the image rather uninteresting. the post-processing you chose is not very complimentary to her face, either.

ok, from the title, i can get the idea of something going on, but from the image, not really. the clothing almost blends into the background. this type of moment really does make for some great photography, but not like this. you really need faces to get the emotion of the moment across. if your score isn't where you would like it to be, you might want to read this thread.

cute kid, real soft focus, lighting way out of balance. do these things matter? only in these are the first things i notice, as opposed to there being some candid storytelling qualities that make me look past the technicals. as rendered, i can't tell if you've caught a interesting moment or not. oh well. if your score isn't where you would like it to be, you might want to read this thread.
