The hot sunsetby DjabordjaborComment: A beautiful calm shot, but the colors of the sunset seem to be very cool. Still a 7 in my book though. |

The Burning Sunby GIS_boyComment: This pier looks very familiar, I'll have to come back and see if it is who I think it is. The exposure is excellent and I like the lens tilt. Good luck on a great shot. 10 |

Six Feet Underby hannekeComment: I thought this was great, I like to see these kinds of photos on this site because sometimes I feel like I should only enter photos with bright vibrant colors that specifically fit what the masses will have in mind as the general concept for the challenge. But this concept is great and well done, as someone else stated your photo for holy places had a human element present and that makes this a favorite for me! |

Colors of Nightby RikkiComment: Critique Club
Wow 4 out of my last five entries have been in the top ten so you may have to bear with me...
First of all congratulations on your top ten finish, I didn't get to vote on this challenge since I only became a member a few days after this challenge ended, but I would have voted it very highly. I think it has everything working for it. The large depth of field makes it easy for the eyes to wander around the photo and the lake's edge makes a niceline of sight for the eye to follow towards the sky. You picked agreat time of day/night to shoot so that you had a mix of city light red and natural night blue. I am not sure what you could really have to done improve on this image, perhaps have shot at a lower angle so that you would feel closer to the ground and you would have also been able to angle the camera upwards more and gotten more of the sky and possibly a few more stars into the scene. The sky appears to have a little noise and dithering while it is fading through magenta to blue and you could have used some noise reduction software or a light gaussian blur across the sky only, to smooth it out.
Other then those suggestions I think it is a great pic and a well executed long exposure. Congratulations. If you have any comments or questions feel free to send me a PM. |
