I think this needs a little bit more contrast, there is hardly any black in the photo. Maybe try a little S curve using a curves adjustment layer. Nice find though, he looks perplexed. :)

the idea is nice, but the lighting is really uneven and abit harsh like from a flash too far from the scene and not diffused at all. maybe try and shoot when available light was an option. or maybe you were just leaning over the scene and blocking the light? a good effort, but better light would have really made it shine. 6
