Nice detail. Awesome capture. I have spent several long sessions trying to catch a decent shot of these guys, and have yet to even come close! So I applaud the effort it must of taken. Nice job :-)

Very creative idea. A well lit, very sharp, vibrant presentation. I see where you're going with the off centered comp, and slight negative space, but I get a slightly un balanced feel. I'm wondering if perhaps it is in a spot where (as far as the negative space) it is wanting either a little bit more, or a little bit less, to achieve a slightly stronger 'balance'. A good idea though, and technically well done.

Nice solid, classic composition. Good detail. Nice lighting. The photo has a pleasing, serene, peaceful easy feeling, if that makes sense. Nice job.

Cool shot, with great detail. Nice lighting too. With all those little hairs and such, a good texture feel to the image. I really like how all the little 'arms' are going to the right. Something you could try as an alternate version is maybe a tighter cropping. The reason I say that is that with the surrounding leaves around the black part, it gives the image a distinct centered comp, which does work ok here, but if it were framed say, close to the outer edge of the black part all the way around, it could give a more abstract, flowing, type of comp possibly. Something to try maybe if you get bored :-) A nice shot though, with great detail!

I really like your 'rocks' series. Great study, very interesting presentation of the subject. Nice, fitting processing. I like the play of light and shadow in the shots. This one is my favorite of the group. Great eye, and nice work :-)

Greetings from the Critique Club :-)

So this is your 'Flowers' entry. Certainly fits the challenge, those are definitely flowers :-) My first impression on this image is that it is a refreshing departure from the bright vivid colors one would expect from a flower challenge. Judging from the relatively low number of low votes on the pic, I would say that the voters generally found the same thing. I actually quite like the earthy tones here, and it is presented nicely on the black background. I really like the curves made from the right side of the flowers.

Technically, looks pretty good. Nice focus and lighting. Might be nice to have a little more dramatic play of shadow on the flowers, but that could be just my taste for drama, and would only be a plus on an already good job. A 'classic' composition, but it just always works so well when executed well, and this one is well done. I will note however, that at least it seems to me that usually you see the vertical go from left to right, and yours is right to left, so perhaps that seems a little 'fresh', at least to me :-)

Overall, a very nice shot. I find it invokes a soothing, 'earthy' feeling. It placed pretty well in what IMO, was a challenge with some real tough competition in it. Nicely done.

If you have any questions, or comments or anything, please feel free to pm me.

Happy shooting,
taterbug :-)
