Play meby clixographerComment: This is a really great idea. A composition that could really work well. I think there are a few things holding the image back though. Probably the biggest thing is the lighting. See how the woman is very flat, and the guitar face has that large obtrusive glare spot? This is something that you just have to take the time to experiment, move around, find good even lighting with no glare or harsh shadows. Especially with a very reflective surface, like the guitar. Also, some attention to detail, like cleaning the guitar before the shoot (you can see the smudges and fingerprints all over it), and ensuring the guitar is held straight (see how it is tilted to the right?) I also see that your image is only 474 px. It really is in your best interest to use as much of the full 640 allowed. There is a good tutorial on the site (under Learn on the menu bar) about sizing and preparing challenge entries. I think that with some work on lighting and little details, this great concept could be a very strong photo. |

Trappedby KenComment: The ultra tight framing here works very well for this shot, IMO. Nice job. |

You Look Like Gold To Meby super-daveComment: Hmmmm...an interesting image. When I saw the thumbnail, it didn't look like it really appeal to me. But upon seeing the full size image, it strikes me as kind of an abstract, and I actually quite like it. The yellow/gold tone adds to the photo, in this case, IMO. Nice job :-) |

Crescent Bodyby MPRPROComment: Nice idea. A lovely study of form. I really like the concept, and how you've used light here. I wish there was just a slight bit less negative space at right. Definitely not a lot less, just a tad, I think it would echo the form a little stronger if it were a little less. A beautiful shot though, very good job. |

Social Repressionby ace flymanComment: This is a great idea. I like it. Executed pretty good, the lighting and focus etc. is good. What I am unsure of, is the composition. Subject seems kind of centered and in this case seems to lack a littly dynamically. It doesn't seem like the negative space at the sides is contributing much to the theme. I am wondering if a tighter crop might work well here? Or perhaps using a portrait orientation, placing the negative space at the top of frame, it might add to the sense of 'repression', the weight bearing down on the subject? I like the idea though, and the technicals look good. |
