I like the sepia here. Works especially well with the sky. I agree about maybe just a tad bit more contrast. Cool shot, good eye. |
| 06/30/2005 01:56:29 AM | Jungle Gymby LKMoteComment: Focus and exposure here are good. I think this could be an interesting subject that does fit the challenge IMO. In this case, the shot seems a little busy to me. Maybe a different angle/perspective could be a simpler, stronger presentation? Also, I find the slight tilt a little disturbing. I think this is a case where care should be taken to ensure a level 'horizon', or if you use a editing program, it may have an 'arbitrary rotation', I know in photoshop there is. You can choose this under the rotate image command, and use the ruler tool to rotate any number of degrees, not just 90 or 100. One last thing, this maybe an instance where including a child, or person may increase the interest/appeal factor of the photo. (I know, that sounds stupid, like a child is not a person :-), anyway, I hope you know what I mean) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/30/2005 01:40:02 AM | What a beautifull placeby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: Beautiful composition. The lines of the road, as well as the line formed by the hill that the road is on work really well in this image. | Photographer found comment helpful. |

I know, this comment is not real helpful, but...those snails are cool. |
| 06/30/2005 01:33:27 AM | Path to Despairby MatthewComment: I really like this image. First off, it fits the challenge well IMO. To some it may appear to be on the verge of being too 'busy', but I think in your pov, it makes it work for me. It's interesting that, with all that's going on, and the lack of symmetry so to speak, the photo still has a very balanced 'feel' to me, perhaps it's the reflections, and the centered vanishing point, along with the way you've framed it, with the man and the opposite licquor shelves both cut off. The expression on the man is perfect, is this posed or a candid? Either way, very nice, even without your title, I see the story clearly, and am drawn into the image. Great job. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/30/2005 01:20:17 AM | Bridgeby MonaComment: Great focus and exposure, well done considering the bright sunny light, it would be easy to get blown out. A nice pleasing scene. Fits the challenge IMO. ...But, let me preface this next statement by saying, believe me, I am not one of the detail, nitpicky people that over analyze the challenge descriptions and say that the lines have to 'lead' to a pronounced subject. I think the bridge here is the subject and the lines of it lead me nicely through the photo, like I said, it fits the challenge IMO, but as I sit here looking at this image, I hear a little voice screaming that if there were a person somewhere along that bridge, maybe looking out at the water, this could be a much stronger photo. I'm certainly not giving a 'low' vote here, but to me, in this case, that could make for a 'great' photo. |
| 06/30/2005 01:08:02 AM | Into The Cityby flip89Comment: Ahhh, I see this type of long exposure shot done often, and it seems like it is just done for the sake of the effect, and the shooter forgot about making a good image. In this photo though, IMO you have started with a strong composition and the light trails add to the shot, and work well, especially for this challenge. Nice job. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/30/2005 01:00:00 AM | Restingby SteveinnzComment: This is a very good choice of subject. Has interest and appeal, and good lines IMO for this challenge. To me it seems that at a different time of day, or on a different day, this could make a great photo. In this lighting it seems like the sky especially and even the water and colors in general are kind of flat and washed out. Definitely a good eye and strong compositionally. | Photographer found comment helpful. |
| 06/28/2005 07:05:13 PM | Jurassic Parkby saintaugustComment: Technically it seems pretty good. I like the dof. I think it would make a great setting, there is even some natural framing there, but I find myself looking for a subject, something to draw my interest. |
| 06/28/2005 06:36:23 AM | Blue-Flower.jpgby artvetComment: I find this a very compelling image. I'm not normally a huge fan of 'flower' shots, although I do appreciate a good one (and I must confess, I try some occasionally, but don't tell anyone :-) ) and this is a good one IMO. To me it seems unique and creative with the treatment you've done to it. The grain makes it. Colors are awesome. The angle/perspective is dramatic. Compositionally, I like how it is simple, basic, yet very bold. Another big strong point I think is, even with the grain, there is still a lot of detail there. Overall, a great shot, I really like it. thanks :-) | Photographer found comment helpful. |
