Leg in the cloisterby alexgarciaComment: You certainly have your b/w method nailed :-) Another nice job on the conversion. Great lines in this shot, and your timing on the lighting is awesome. There is just a wonderful drama played out by the light and shadow here. hmmm, yeah, I think I have to agree, the leg isn't really adding a lot, IMO in this case. And I guess, yeah, maybe a slightly tighter crop on the right. Great subject matter in these shots. Seems to be well worth exploring further if possible. Nice job :-) |

threatening sky over cathedralby alexgarciaComment: Great processing again on this shot. Very good tones present. Cool sky. A very dramatic point of view, but I find myself wanting to see more of that awesome looking archway. The plain flat wall going up just doesn't grab me strongly. The cable is a minor distraction, it could probably be cloned out without too much trouble. |

Columnataby alexgarciaComment: Cool shot. Good interest factor. Great exposure/lighting. I like the tonal range in the shot. Good dof, not so much that you totally lose all detail in the distance, but enough to draw attention to the front pillars. Great detail in the tops of the columns and the arches. This is a great use of leading lines and repetition. I have to agree about the slight 'skew'. A wee bit straighter I think would give the full impact of the composition. I also agree about the oof pillar at far right, perhaps the shot could be cropped about to the top of the flat support plate of the first column, then clone out any remaining bit still hanging over, so the right edge would be all black. If necessary, the image could probably afford to lose just a little bit off the top and bottom if needed to maintain the desired aspect ratio. Very good shot, and nice job on the b/w conversion :-) I like it. |

City_2818.jpgby kari1Comment: This is a very interesting shot. At first glance, it might seem overly busy, but somehow, that works in this image. Perhaps it is because the 'busyness' is in the many reflections, and those reflections are so different than the quaint, wooden scene of the pubfront. But I feel drawn into the image nicely, taking it all in and studying the various details. Perhaps it has something to do with the human 'voyeristic' nature. I like how you've centered the doorway, and how the one door is open and inviting. A good composition, it plays on the symmetry of the scene nicely. And then the whimsical reflections provide an interesting counterpoint to this symmetry. Focus and color management look pretty good. My only complaint (and it would be minor) is that there seems to be just a slight 'flatness' or drabby feeling, but just slight. Maybe due to the weather/lighting condition at the time of the shot. Maybe a little tweaking in processing, or even attempting a reshoot under different lighting to get a real 'pop' out of it? Don't get me wrong, this is a very slight flaw, and I quite like the photo :-) I just see potential to be an even stronger presentation. Very nice job! |

Peanut Butter Indulgenceby TerramarComment: Very good job on your idea, and how you incorporated the items in your shot. Feels natural, and fits well. Works good as a silhouette. Nice job :-) |

Fu Manchuby Little KingComment: This is actually pretty cool :-) Nice job on lighting and focus. Really good 'sculpting' job with the peanut butter. Well done :-) And what I really want to know is, how hard was it to clean out the peanut butter??? :-P |
