This is cute! But, I am not a fan of the shadows from a flash. Maybe if you put him against a darker background, or a patterned background, to eliminate those harsh shadows, that white background is almost swallowing up your model. Other than that, good job.

Wonderful photo!! I love all the angles, and repetition in the trellise-work. I also like the contrast of the natural background in the mountain, to all the rigid steel in the subject. I think that the black and white does well here also. Great job!

I like your idea, almost more of a funny photo. The black and white does well with your subject. I don't know about the dark area in the upper left corner, though. It's kind of drawing me away a bit. Overall, nice job!

I can kind of see where you were going with this, but not sure if it fits strength or power, as well as it fits pressure. With just the guage showing, and no hint of what this guage is attached to, I find it hard to see the message. Other than that, the photo is nice, I like the simple, soft colors, and the direction of the light works well with this subject. I also like the straight pipe on the left, it is a nice contrast to the round guage.

Nice action photo, good idea for the challenge. The lighting is nice, although, I think that I would have liked to see the rest of the bottom of the flag, I think that it is leading my eye out of the photo with the bottom off the photo. Otherwise, a good job!

I like this idea of strength (was thinking of doing a tree myself), and you pulled it off well! The contrast between the small boy (looking wayyyy up!) and the large, tall tree gives this photo a wonderful sense of awe. The coloring and lighting in the photo complements the photo perfectly. Great job!

Working Wheels

Thanks for your comments, I appreciate getting the feedback. I have a hard time getting feedback from anyone I know, as I do not know too many people interested in photography. This was a great discovery for me. In regards to the comment by TooCool, I tried it with more DOF, but didn't like the results, I liked the offcentered feel, with all the focus on the left wheel. I also thought, like dhare, that the subject would not hold interest, but I liked taking the photos, I used it as a kind of Depth of Focus study. I took many shots with each wheel in focus, and all in focus, but this was my favorite out of the bunch. In response to CVTJan and bpickard, I thought that if there was an out of focus wheel in the center, that it would work, which, to a certain extent, it did. This is not my best work, as I had just found this web site, and had little time to think about the challenge. I hope to do better in the future. And, I do not normally have a theme to follow (this is just a hobby), which is precisely why I am trying to complete these challenges, to better myself. Thank you, everyone, for your help!

Weak Pier & Windy Weather & Strong Legs

I like the subject, that is an interesting interpretation. Someone standing on a crooked pier...I like the colors in this photo, the way the dock gradates from one color to the next. The choppy water is nice too, and the branches hanging into the photo kind of point me back into the photo. I like the repetition in the posts on the dock, and the posts contrasting with the dock also. Nice work!
