It is difficult to make out what this is. It looks like a branch of a tree with all the rings clearly observed, but your name 'Damascus' makes me wonder if it is not an illusion and this is really a steel blade. Enlighten me please. Whatever, I do like it.

This is interesting. Rather melancholy parallels here. The poppy wreath around the centre stone takes away the austerity that would otherwise be evident.

Red Hook

There is a great horizontality about this picture. The jetty, the bank of the river behind it and the horizon are all perfectly flat, and fulfill the terms of the
competition. The verticals of the jetty supports and the lamp-post are at perfect right-angles to all the others. It is all nicely framed by the low wall and the tree trunk and branches. I do like this.

This is a beautiful image. The black and gold bands at the bottom of the picture are very strong and the lacy network of branches of the trees well focussed.
The misty mountains at the back provide the perfect backdrop.

I inderstand your plan in taking this picture, but I am not sure that it comes off too well. The only part that is atually in focus is a spot two or three feet ahead of the camera. Everything else is blurred.. Perhaps that is what you intended, but I don't find it very pleasing....sorry.

A nice peaceful study. The fence, turning a corner just before it reaches the right of the picture is well-placed and the finials on the fence-posts give it some character.
