I can see where you're coming from with the title and the connection to darkness...it's unfortunate that the average DPC voter doesn't make the kinds of connections necessary to do so in an average 2 second viewing. The large patch of light is enough for most to say "DNMC" and click the 4 or below. I like the composition; the left side feels a bit crowded from the pillar running along there. I think if you had shot it at twilight, a step or so more to your right, this image would have scored higher for you. :)

This is a lovely composition. I like the diagonal movement, and the contrast between the types of ground. The tones are nice as well. Great eye for capturing this! :o)

Kitty on a Pedestal

Hehehe this makes me giggle out loud! I love kittens. Most of them act as if they are on a pedestal, even if they aren't. ;)

This shot has nice, even lighting and is well-exposed. As a personal preference, I would like to see the eyes in sharper focus. You might try selecting just the area right around the eyes with the lasso or the elliptical marquis tool, then feathering the selection, and applying a little more USM to them to bring them more sharpness. Great shot!! :)

This is a fabulous macro. I have not yet tried any of the reversal techniques, but you seem to have got it down well because this is awesome! I love the colors; they blend well together with the greens and the browns. Excellent find! :o)

Wow what a unique perspective for a flower picture. I love the textures and the diagonal composition. I might have cropped it ever so slightly more on the top and right, just to eliminate the tiny triangle in the center on top, but it's no biggie. Lovely capture!!! :o)

What a serene environment. I can imagine hearing the wind and birds while you were sitting there. The shape of the bird stands out well against the lush greens. Excellent find! :)

Oh wow! I'm so glad to see this one. Extremely beautiful and therapeutic to look at. I love the light reflections in the water! Starfish are one of my favorite sea creatures; this reminds me why! :o)

Wow...this is beautiful!! A very emotive capture with lots of detail and movement. I adore Spanish dancing and culture, and this is just a wonderful example of what there is to love! Great capture. :o)
