Nice product shot for a magazine ad, say, but the subject doesn't interest me all that much. Why did you take and submit it? Why did it interest you? Is that interest shared by your audience here? Answering these questions may help you score well here.

I fly about 200,000 miles a year. It is a well executed photo of a subject so common I have trouble remaining interested. Show me the mother of all thunderheads ... or show me raging forest fires from the air ... or show me glaciers descending the mountain slopes of Greenland or Iceland ... and I'm "all-in." The photos available to us from the air offer such a great opportunity for a new perspective. Let's seek them out.

This a scary-good, crazy-good photo. Great focus! You've made me empathize with your subject, like him even. Wonderful lighting. Great shadows. Unfortunately, my mother died of emphasima resulting from smoking. So I am giving an 8-level photo a 2, because I can do NOTHING that makes smoking more desireable.

I am an American and proud to be one. But I am not a fan of wearing the flag on my sleve. This feels like it to me. Beyond that, there are many many flag pics here. You haven't shown me anything new, or a new perspective. Sorry to be blunt. I can't see what's in your head or why this is special to you ... the photo doesn't make it special for me.

Hmm ... I didn't think that much of this on first viewing, gave it a 2 in fact ... but on reflection I think it's better than that. It is compelling in a way I cannot explain. Part composition. Part is the focus and the desat of the background. Part may be the "distressed" processing. I can't figure it out, but I'm bumping the score I gave.
