Mississippi Queensby sherComment: Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy viewing this photo, great job, but this comment will be focused on what I think are the negative aspects. I believe that you selectively desaturatedthe upper three decks of the far ship. Why? That added distraction to the image IMHO. Also, the composition leaves us with an incredibly detailed and interesting foreground to an emty background. Otherwise, I still really like this shot. Perhaps if you were to photograph this in the future, you would compose with less sky and more of the boats' reflections in the water. 7. |

Shiva, Guardian of the Schoolkids, Chennai, India.by FalcComment: To me, the selective desaturation puts too much focus on the brightly colored flowers than on the children. If you were to still use the selec. desat...in this photo, I would do one of two things...desat everything but the children, or desaturate everything but the flowers and the child on the far right. This would add some extra interest to a potentially strong photo. |

Mirrored Hopeby ddngComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hello, Di. I'd first like to say that this photo seems a little bit grainy. It doesn't seem to be an artistically added grain but a color grain which should not really result from a camera such as the 10D. This might have happened due to a bad JPEG compression which, depending on your photo editing software, can be fixed (PM me if you would like help).
Otherwise...I find the photo fairly uninteresting. It is underexposed and the reflection adds some interest, but there is a lack of a focal point. There is nothing that stands out as the actualy subject of the image. I read your comment, and I now understand your concept of hope. Unfortunately, I believe that your title led us to believe that the hope was in the trees for they were mirrored, hence Mirrored Hope. Without a focal point, the idea of hope isn't conveyed obviously so a stronger title may have resulted in a higher score.
As far as this goes for you, I think it is a try again next time situation. Good luck.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to PM me.

Tranquilityby bharathdComment: Your title is my Usernam so i feel entitled to comment. At first I did not see that there was a frame, and it is still not clear to me the purpose of the frame in the image. The lighting on your model's face is very good, but the rest of the image is lost in underexposure so the frame does not show. The white spot on the right of the image is distracting also. Without the challenge in mind. A good portrait with the focus right on and good short lighting. Good job on that. |

Spotted during sunday walkby RUEDISCHMUTZComment: I think that the part of the sky in the top left corner should have been cropped out. It is distracting and uninteresting. Good shot otherwise, I like the textures on the arch. 7. |

Twin Towers 2by rayg544Comment: Cool angle...I'd crop out the bottom part of the window though. Wintertime adds interest...nice :)! |
