An eye on the cider press.by jjbeguinComment: This reminds me of Ansel Adam's portraits...most of which are rarely seen. Beautiful. Message edited by author 2004-10-09 08:27:55. |

Hidden Network Dangerby aKiwiComment: Greetings from the Critique Club!
Hey, bud... I really like this shot and it definitely shows complexity. Just trying to plug a USB into my computer gets me confused and with this board, I can't even imagine! The thing that hits you right away when you see this is the color. It is beautiful with neon violets, reds, greens, and blues. It is a pleasing image to take a long look at as the colors are smooth and harmonious. It is amazing how you "Painted with Light" and your skill must be truly exceptional.
However, there are a couple of key problems in it that brought it down to the score that it got. The first thing is minor, but it jumps out at me...everything is equally exposed except for one part which is very blown out. I don't know how this could have been avoided, but it is a blaring problem to me. The second thing is that there is not one specific focal point (with the exception of the colors). This makes it just a bit harder to really understand what is going on in the shot.
Still a good shot with great lighting techinically and visually. I would suggest trying it again doing your best not to reflect it a lot off of the metal where it is blown out. Unfortunately, solely because of that you were voted down to the low 5's.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns feel free to PM me.

Hors D'oeuvre Anyone?by JackoComment: Wonderful...could be centered just a tiny bit better...if this is full frame, then it would have had to be done compositionally in-camera, but otherwise just make the cropping a little more even by adding more to the left side. Makes me laugh so much...what kind of cheese is that? |

Sunset at Castle Hill by BobsterLobsterComment: In assumpstion this is Mr. Rose, you captured a wonderful array of late afternoon colors on this piece. I love the range in the sky; from blue to red. And where the red is, it meets very nicely with its complementing green. The yellow of the "castle" brings my attention to it with its strength and interest. Great image. My only criticism is that the castle looks just a little bit oversharpened. Otherwise, a great shot. |

Solitudeby ZoomdakComment: Hi Zoom...this is my favourite photograph of Canon Beach thus far. The textures in the sand are phenomenal and the balance is extraordinary. The reflection of Haystack Rock is what makes this for me. The moon is also a great addition to this piece. If the moon could be sharpened up a litle bit and maybe burnt in just a singe...it would be all too perfect for me. Although the skies look burnt in a little as it is, try experimenting with some more burning, maybe closer to Haystack Rock with the smaller clouds farther away. Good luck on a great image. The first 10 in the challenge from me.
