Cats Eyeby kbrownvcComment: This is a stellar macro shot. The detail in the eye is amazing. One thing I really like about this picture (that I wish I could have had in mine) is the detail on the lower parts of the head and jaw. Here the line of the mouth is clear, while on mine it's rather obscured in shadow. Very nice work. |

Attitudeby postoakinversionComment: exposure and tonal range are good. shadows are a bit too dark on the right of his face. the use of a reflecting card or the like (e.g., big piece of white cardboard, a white cloth) held outside the frame can work wonders in shadow reduction. |

Understanding Comes Slowlyby shutterphunkComment: lovely picture, very serene. if the characters on the wall are his (yours?) then his calligraphy is impressive. there are a few things that could have helped this in the post processing:
1. cloning out the bright spot in lower left
2. increasing the contrast on the image
3. a bit of sharpening
- but this remains a very good photograph in any case. 8 |

mother and a lambby JohannesFrankComment: the bright parts of this image are beautiful, and i like the grass filling out the bottom right. I wish there were more visible detail in the shadows. if you use photoshop, try this-
hit ctrl - alt - ~ (tilde) to select highlights
invert the selection
ctrl - j to duplicate selection to new layer
set layer blending to screen
... and adjust from there. if you do any re-edits post-challenge, I'd love to see them! |

Shyby NusbaumComment: lovely colors in this one, and the title fits her expression and pose very well. the roughness of the concrete contasts nicely with the smoothness of her skin. and of course, she's all kinds of cute :) |

Destiny and Legacyby MPRPROComment: You know, I'm looking at this picture here... and I'm thinking, boy, all the pieces are really cool, but they just don't fit together quite right! The blue/green/brown color scheme is great, the textures and lighting in the trees are great, and the Merlin dude looks quite the part. The only problem is... he's looking the wrong way! There's a tacit compositional rule that you should leave room for your subject's gaze in a picture like this without a strong overriding reason for doing otherwise. If Merlin were looking the other way, this photo would instantly be much more balanced. Your ability to take good pictures is clear from this example... just a few minor tweaks are necessary!
