looks like this picture has a cool cast from being taken in the shade. if you adjust the blue levels you can fix this and bring out the warm tones of the leaves.

great photo. looks like you have a very patient and obedient canine friend! I love the brick in the background. If you could do something to bring out the texture in your dog's fur, I think that would help - the strong texture in the background distracts from the apparent smoothness of the fur. Something like this:



I ran a couple of passes of USM on the whole image and then masked out the background and floor so the only parts that were sharpened were your dog. Then I did a bit of dodging on the fur highlights to amplify contrast. Then a bit of NeatImage mostly on the background and the floor. As bear_music might say, this is "by no means a definitive rework," but maybe it's an adequate illustration of what I'm saying.
