Broken Stemby JutildaComment: ah, so it WAS in fact a transparency... you pulled off the watery effect so well that I assumed it was being reflected in water! The illusion (created with transparency) was convincing enough that it didn't even look transparent. Funny how that works, I encountered the same problem with my submission. |

The lights of Reykjavíkby jsonComment: my favorite of the aurora pictures I've seen so far - this actually uses the lights as a compositional element rather than simply taking a picture of the lights themselves and having the rest of the picture basically be 'extra.' |

My Happy Placeby LoudDogComment: looks like Utah!
for a landscape shot, I generally feel that the viewer should have a longer line of sight - there should be objects visible in the distance visible. landscapes should not have a "closed in" feeling - they should be open and expansive. |

November Skyby GeeeComment: moody and ominous. I hope this gets the high marks it deserves. |

Early Autumn In Zionby jcwoods1Comment: Zion is an amazing place. I like the color bands in this picture - blue at the top, then red and green, and yellow at the bottom. This photo would be helped if it had some leading lines to emphasize the depth and draw the eye. |

Farewell Green Leavesby SDWComment: The rich blue of the sky is refreshing. The trees and their reflection look strangely flat. Maybe this could not be fixed without advanced editing...but I really wish there were more detail and highlight/shadow contrast in the foliage. |

far aheadby zara-opalComment: wow, what an open place. I wish you could have gotten the river to feature more prominently. |

Lone mountainby unnevaComment: I like the starkness. Did you try any different crops? I feel like this is just a bit too static. |

Towpath Sunriseby ZorbaTheGeekComment: beautiful scene and good exposure, but composition leaves something to be desired... there are no really strong lines or shapes, nothing to draw or grab the eye, just a few splashes of color with nothing to anchor them or bring them to life. nonetheless, being there at the right time to see this and knowing how to expose correctly puts you solidly in the "above average" category...
