The Bonsai Loverby TUBORGComment: it's an awesome photo, but i feel like the subject is very much the dude and the foliage is secondary |

Arboric Explosionby bvoiComment: this image has a lot of potential, but something about the color is freaking me out |

Symbiosisby mtppComment: great image - though i find the green border distracting. no border or a white border would, i think, have worked better. |

Hope For Tomorrowby taterbugComment: great idea - definitely has a dramatic feel and a strong emotive element.
couple of crits-
1. there's a lot of empty space at the top. this makes the image feel a bit bottom-heavy and weakens the focal point of the image.
2. the faded gaussian blur has created a noticeable halo, especially around the girl. going back over the edges with the history brush, or masking out the edges, would have dealt with this distracting element. i think you could have gotten away with just a quick run of the brush around the edges of the girl - a fifteen or thirty second fix. |

Desperation by StructorComment: the slight vignetting works nicely-
this is clearly the work of a skillful artist, though i cannot now tell whose it is |

Day's Endby SJCarterComment: good choice of subject - nice colors too.
criticism:
-tree takes up slightly too little space for my tastes. cropping a bit from the top and left would have been okay.
-black border creates a very high-contrast area on the edges of the photo. this is bad, because contrast draws the eye, and so i find myself looking more to the edge than to the tree. notice that the magenta/black in the upper left has higher contrast than the lavender/black around the tree. |

Enduranceby BalkoComment: great minimalism. the smooth clouds/fog make a great backdrop for the fronds of the palm. |

Hard to Find a Single Tree...by tfarrell23Comment: looks like you found one well enough! if you think it's hard to find a single tree where you are, try finding one in vermont!
this photo has several strong elements. the tree is an interesting subject, and you've composed it well - it's quite prominent, but not so big that the image feels crowded.
the major crit i have is that the sky is so grey. there's not enough contrast between the tree and the sky. a bit of levels adjustments might have helped; also, some careful burning on the tree & dodging of the sky (especially near the horizon) would have added some drama. |

Mediterranean Summerby ksymeonComment: what a great tree! the light/dark green is really nice. i think the centered composition isn't working too well - maybe cut out a bit of the foreground and move the tree a bit to one side. |
