More an imaginative illustration of "introspection" than a literal portrayal of the word, unless the written material is an intro of some sort. Or I have just missed it. That nitpicking being said, it's very imaginative and philosophically provocative, drawing one into the image more than any other entry, in my opinion. The man's penetrating gaze is perfect. The darkish overall tone is suitably mysterious. The watch is a nice touch.

Sterling wordplay at work here, presented as if serendipitously discovered in an ancient tome. The coloration works well, as does the nice touch of framing the trisected insect in a magnifying glass. The detail is excellent. I especially like how the area under the lens has gathered a surplus of light. One of my favorites.

Imaginatively executed depiction of the word. The image seems candid and realistic, which is why I also find it chilling and emotionally claustrophobic. The repetitive outfits, workbenches and lanterns really reinforce the notion of mechanistic servitude. The lighting beautifully falls quickly away into darkness. One of my favorites.

This is my favorite image because it ties everything together so elegantly -- the wordplay is seamless, the fish's reflection serves up "selfish" halfway, bridging the way to the fish itself. The depth of field nicely focuses on the fish, while its reflection plays a supporting role. It's a streamlined rebus.
