Though I didn't comment on the pictures in this challenge, I did cast votes and this was my clear favorite. Although this image is steeped in pain, it's swaddled in beauty. It's like a finely controlled charcoal drawing that both plummets and soars in tonation. You have to make some effort to discern the face, which then easily transmogrifies into a skull. Then there's the dagger of a pipe. The background has a cubist feel. I don't know what white object in the upper right is, but I choose to think it's an ax.

Didn't have time to comment on this earlier. What a glorious evocation of flight! I love how the birds are chopped up and glittering. The sinuous curve of the horizon is beautiful. It reminds me of an Escher print wherein birds shift in color as day turns to night, but actually, not technically. Terribly underrated.
