Without the pink balloon this image is impressive, with its wonderfully convoluted composition and bold emphasis on the long reflection. With it, there's that touch of surprise and whimsy that, for me, lifts it into a less somber realm of delight. It could be considered litter, but we can set that aside to revel in the pleasure it brings. We can even ponder the concept of "litter". Fine photograph. Big smile.

Pretty is not the diminutive of beautiful. It's a difficult, if not actually impossible, distinction to give voice to, but here I'm trying to explain a gut reaction. Pretty is delight, happiness and sunshine. Beautiful is glory, impressiveness, emotional depth and, okay, delight as well. Other stuff too. You know it when you feel it. This image is so uplifting. The leaves sparkle, the background elegantly sets them off, and as the leaves approach the top they mass into abundance. It's a garland to spring, to joy and promise. Very pretty.

This terrifically titled image hits all the right notes. I see loads of references and symbolism which float the entire venture into contemporary biblical territory. Is Noah on the ark or diddling about as the deluge begins? The seagull as dove? The arc of the windshield wiper as rainbow? Then there's a bridge and a not so golden city. There's a sense of angst here abetted by the gray tones and somber skies. And it's real artistry to have droplets on the vehicle's front window transform into actual rain. The composition is nuanced and well-balanced. Paralysis scuttles forward into the 21st century.

Playful surrealism here, a cute, imploring, intense cat grafted onto what looks to be a Renaissance (?) painting. The person in the painting also appears to be intense, so is the cat, according to the thinking of the times, a familiar? The idea is startling and impressive. The two are cleverly blended. The way the face seems to come out of nowhere works beautifully. I may be way off the mark, but I'm happy to explore the possibility. This satisfying image makes us ponder, and I've enjoyed the ride.

Four Eskimos on an ice floe staring at the Kaaba and neighboring Costco backed by a nuclear mushroom cloud. Need I say more?
Well, maybe. This seemingly normal moment is actually an unplumbable mystery. Have to move on to other matters. It's a wild and very enjoyable image. The composition is odd but sterling. The juxtaposition of sharp lines and soft curves is quite satisfying. The upper vignette works it's magic in a way I could never imagine.
Many happy returns.

The beauty of this composition startled me. The shapes and attendant textures are flaring and unusual, and cut out negative spaces which themselves sport wonderful texture and bokeh. The tones and detail are marvelous. Best of all, for me, is that it features animals. Thank you.

I see this as viewer becomes crow (raven?). We slip into the mind of the bird and survey our world. The irony of the parked truck, while amusing to, and appreciated by, the human happening along into our quarter, is unnoticed as such by ourselves (we crows). So I find this to be a very powerful image before I swing back into the chattering human mind. OK. I'm enjoying the somewhat jumbled composition and the juxtaposition of roadwork and the beautiful sea islands popping up in the background. Of course juxtaposition, as such, is once again the product of discriminating mind, which crows will have nothing of. Too much babbling. I like this picture.

Deceptively plain, yet most effective for its uncompromising and in your face steadfastness. It has an enchantment that I can't quite put my finger on. The background lawn and forest are like a shimmering doily before which are primly set bench and gussied up garbage can, crosswise path and entry skirt immodestly free of snow. Even the tree growing out of the center of the bench top, which could be called a compositional error, is blithely acceptable. "Rest a moment. Bide with me. Whenever you pass by, I'll be here."

A fine photograph that I think will appeal to Ubique's sensibility. It has a beating heart; it's a stand alone gesture that intimates a thriving world extending open-eyed and dazzling beyond this narrow slit. The walls are wonderfully dark, yet there she stands, relaxed, with her dog avidly staring into the dimness with glowing eyes. A strong, admirable entry.

I think this picture has something to do with sub-atomic particles flashing into and out of existence. Alternatively, it's Dr. Who's wonder hound tracking renegade Daleks. In any case, it's provocatively fascinating and I certainly like it very much. It's the blown out void that's central, framed by the front of the dog and the person's legs and shoe. It seems to say, "Don't believe your eyes."
