abandoned warehouseby jgirl57Comment: Wonderfully suggestive. It's a visual poem. The muted palette, grainy and sprinkled with some bright lights, is a revelation of somber beauty. One of my favorites. |

through and throughby FourwheelComment: Exceptional image. The sense of abandonment is amplified by a sense of keening emptiness. The exterior reflections are powerful, especially the beautifully positioned human form, into which open portal upon portal to the soul. The shabby foreground makes an ominous threshold. Within the interior are a series of pleasing rectangles, surprisingly orderly and calming. In total it's emotionally and aesthetically moving.
My personal favorite in the challenge, and one of my favorites on the site. |

back to natureby tvsometimeComment: This small structure looks like a toll booth on the road that the new thruway has made redundant. It's being overtaken by vegetation, of which that in the foreground is menacingly approaching. This adds depth of space and time. It's a nicely seen tiny mystery, due to become only more hidden and exotic. |

At the corner of Gone and Fogottenby cdr1401Comment: It's certainly falling apart, however the windows are, surprisingly, unbroken. Leads me to figure the decay is recent and rapid. There could be a return look challenge in about three years. I like how it seems the gas pumps have been ripped from their roots -- nothing half way about it. |

5.2.9.by elizadebComment: Can't really tell, but this house seems to be more a visual blight for the neighborhood than an abandoned building, but perhaps it's just off and running. The windows are quite intact. Perhaps it's just slumming. |

Corner dutyby herfotomanComment: In a strange way this could be seen as reversing decay, but the visual effect of texture ends up looking like static. On a structure with more defined blocks of dark and light this approach could make a fascinating study. |

Weathered Remainsby westfordComment: In pretty good shape but for the roof. When that goes, decay will accelerate. A vivid snapshot of the tipping point. |

Abandoned Barnby PaulG13Comment: I like how you can see through the far side of the roof, as if it's moth-eaten and lacy. Parts of the outer walls are difficult to get hold of, either from cryptic coloration or lack of crisp focus. |
