Just Hanging Around by GolferDDSComment: Bright and fresh, it's also appealingly comical. Additionally, the clouds where the shoulders and face would be are suggestive of the real things. Which certainly adds a pleasing twist. |

Exit, Stage Leftby MaryOComment: This emphatically says, "I'm gone." Nice ghosting. The other boot could be sharper. |

He backed out ...by primabarbaraComment: Here we are with the traces of automotive choreography, a wintry ballet. Car and driver are gone, but the memory lingers on, to paraphrase some song out there. The snow reveals the surprising elegance of simple maneuvers, and it's kind of poignant. I'm glad you pointed it out. |

You're Not Thereby posthumousComment: I like how straightforward this is. Looking up into a mirror, and now the ceiling is happily disposed in half and in quarters, a pleasing composition, with honest textures and a spray of vegetation. There are so many ways this wouldn't work -- this isn't one of them. |

Last Man Standingby tnunComment: I feel two ways about this image. The capture of the still life is beautiful, the tones nuanced and creamy. The scene itself, in my opinion, is less compelling. Perhaps I'm being over-rational, but the peppers seem arbitrary. Maybe I just don't understand the genre. Aside from that I like it. |

5th Aveby hstegComment: If the challenge was merely "Lines" this would be a winning entry. Just add someone entering the subway and the image does just as well for this current challenge. The nicely chosen perspective adds drama to the scene, and the angled, gleaming leading lines provide a compelling inner structure. What seems ordinary to the average New Yorker is given a gloss of adventure. |

The Wait by grahamgatorComment: Perfect. Exactly expresses the challenge. The person the dog is waiting for (assuming it's not the UPS truck or a cute poodle) is somewhere out there, wending his or her way home, hopefully soon. Lovely light, a harmonious and serene color palette and the reflected view into the house's interior complete this gentle, pleasing image. |

not all thereby PennyStreetComment: At first I didn't know what to make of this, but the longer I looked at it the more I appreciated its fleeting delicacy. The people seem to not be wholly there, as the title expresses, drifting out of reality into reflections and brightness. The oncoming pedestrians are like bokeh. All in all a tantalizing and artistic image.

as high as you canby jagarComment: A wonderful snippet, the man rapidly passing through the corner. There's a jaw jutted out in determination, almost a sense of not wanting to be there. The composition is fine, the angled man before the tracery of winter trees, the background clouds filling the image out, and then the marvelous upper bird. This small but perfectly silhouetted bird yanks the image into balance. In doing so, it's as if they've formed a momentary esthetic alliance, unbeknownst to them as it is. On first glance I'd say the mood is somber, but it needn't be so at all. Very engaging and evocative.
