flowersby jmritzComment: Pretty, softly focused image. Natural or processed, it's the result that we're interested in. It reminds me of those little pods that are dropped into water and open up into paper flowers. Aside from the flowers, the darks and lights settle into somewhat abstract patterns, furthering the under water sensation. Very nice. |

Aloneby SistoComment: Very pretty waterscape with a tree of character. The pleasant tracery of it, and the reflection that blends into the ripples and stones, bespeak patience and determination. The rest of the scene is calm and reassuring. I like the way the fog is coming in from the left. The delicately marbled sky wraps up this excellent image. A high key dream. |

End of Summer in the Fieldby MaryOComment: I admire this tender portrait of a plant on the far side of blossoming, no longer flush with the pride of youth. It really pays to notice the entire span of life, and not flinch at decline, which has its own strength and beauty. The background bokeh is lovely. The design of the plant is elegant and the composition is simple and appropriate. The spider web strand is a bonus. |

Peony's Madnessby JulietNNComment: Spot on title for this almost psychedelic ambiguous mask of a peony. The hyper-realism and beautifully delineated tones and shapes lift this onto a higher plane. Can't get a real grip on what seems to be a face, but the effort is tantalizing. Brilliantly realized. |

Grapevine Noirby grahamgatorComment: A delicate, nicely lit tight rope reaching for its farther anchor. The precision of the vine and leaves carries the dramatic excitement out to the viewer and into the night. Very strong image. |

presenceby krnodilComment: A truly lovely image with an immaculately narrow depth of field. What absolutely wins me over is the tremulous, yearning quality of the front petals. A gesture of true emotion. The background melts naturally away.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |
