Head offby Pk395Comment: I appreciate the explanation. The intent, however, was too subtle for me to understand, especially with all the surrounding action. Although understated subtlety can be wonderful, there's the possibility that viewers may not get it. One's personal enjoyment and satisfaction, though, is well worth the effort. |

extra fries by jmritzComment: On re-seeing this I like it a lot. Where was my head on this one? There is a quiet, almost devastating energy here. |

Visit to a Small Planetby mefnjComment: Handsome and almost abstract. Fine composition. What on first glance is merely shadows on sand subtly becomes beautiful blue bands set in entrancing yellow. Kind of a magical transformation. |

Hold my hand by NeatComment: Like vaudevillians hoofing with their shadows offstage. So much enjoyable rhythm and movement here, the couple and the planking and the water. Lovely tones and contrasts. Excellent black and white. |

love is headlessby skewsmeComment: Lovely dreamscape, tawny and furry. The heads are sort of not there. A feel of golden autumn, the walkers well into the day, leaving us to our own devices in this happy gift, this unfettered breadth of time. |

Beyond the Paleby kasabaComment: Dramatic, contorted, even marionettish pose that emphatically draws the viewer in. Her head is off by virtue of the lighting, the shadow and maybe some doctoring, but with very little imagination it still persists. Beyond that the rich tones of her body and the fine texture of her skirt are marvelous. The frame is amply filled. Beautiful in its oddness.
Personal favorite of the challenge. |

Mirror, Mirrorby GinaRothfelsComment: My only 10, this charged (no pun intended -- really) image is a communion between dimensions, a mysterious ritual highlighted by the central black stripe. The composition is nuanced and cunning, vertical thirds, each of which offers an aspect of this moment in time. In a further stroke the bottom third serves as a unifying anchor. We can't know what she sees as she looks outside the mirror. It's quiet and concentrated. It's beautifully balanced in tone and emotion. So much more than satisfying, it's a stunning triumph. |
