Reflections of Shadows

Wow, what you've found and how you present this striking image are jaw-dropping. I guess this is a vehicle of some sort, but transformed by the heady alchemy of stripes hugging its contours. Moire on psychedelics. Quite plenty so far, but then it appears to be a face of some bizarre sort. As such it's implacably opaque, an alien being. I hardly know what to make ot besides that it's stunning.
Thank you.

Ah, thanks for the nod to my name, as they hang out doing what they do, coo and court, ever on the lookout for tidbits. With or without them, this is a splendid image. I love how the end of the dimly lit street flares out into a fanfare of bright sunlight. It hangs a sheer curtain of haze before the looming mountain across the way. Sweet how that both keeps attention on the foreground neighborhood and offhandedly beckons us afield. The walls close in but don't, at least during daytime, feel claustrophobic. This because of how it opens up. I especially like the street lanterns. They seem to encompass the atmosphere within, a chiming harmony with the day.
Thank you.

A dreamy confection, assuredly beautiful. The softness of the moonlight and trees stirs up longing and, yes, faith. So much given through this hint of eternity. I'm sorry, further commentary would just muddy the sublime. Nice title.
Thank you.

Steps with Plant

A lovely cascade of mauve-ish shadows, a temporay signature of the sun. I love those decorative curlicues on handrails. The world ia a multi-faceted sun dial, and here's the time and news of the day, if only we can decipher it. The horizontal lines of the steps and doorway set up a staff for these besotted notes. The delicate washes of color are also very appealing. I think I'd appreciate the image more without the plant, which tends to draw the eye away from an otherwise tender emptiness. But that's just a subjective take, and can't detract from an image that speaks to me.
Thank you.

A street scene with a surprise appearance by Fred Flintstone! Oh wait, it's a construction vehicle trying to pass as traffic, which is worthy of a double-take. And the driver is taking it side saddle, a la Lady Godiva. This all jumps up the moment, kicks it into a strangeness that's abetted by a lovely toned sky, a beautiful sky. That's what secures the image for me. I also like the out of focus ambiguity of the left hand framing. Makes one wonder, curious and unsure.
Thank you.

Grendel

Grendel

Comment:
Either this pooch has great balance or we're looking out from the deck of a ship in turbulent waters. In any case it's an interesting crop, leaving Grendel kind of looking like a seal, to extend the whimsy. Remaking an image on a slant is instant dynamism. Grendel now seems sporty, alert and ready to explore a transformed world. Or dive for fish.
Thank you.

State of Mind

State of Mind
by tvsometime

Comment:
Is that state of mind unbalanced or dynamically balanced? You leave that up to the viewer to settle. What I settled upon is that the poles are peering downward, like three wise men. To draw away from orthodoxy, I choose to see this scene as veneration of nature, its profuse beauty. The foreground leaves shine with light. It's, for me, a difficult image to understand, but that's how it goes sometimes, and often for the better.
Thank you.

Get Bell Soon
by pgirish007

Comment:
To me, this image is about the rope. It can toll the bell, glad tidings or mourning, to mark time or to call people in. But it can also be a truss, a noose (tempted to let my typo, "moose", stand.), an instrument of captivity. I view it warily. The colorful flowers beneath the bell are like grace notes, visual echoes. The bell itself is such an interesting shape, amply capable of its central role. The tight focus on the bell and wooden structure affords a peek into the world beyond, which seems a bit magical. A melange of sight and sound.
Thank you.

Good form! She or he is striking looking with those orange eyes and golden halos about them. Perfect focus on his/her face. In the summer heat it's actually cooling to imagine the pleasure s/he feels. (This he/she, etc., is really cumbersome. Couldn't animals, pets at least, distinguish their gender in an obvious way? Hats, for example. Pink and blue, stripes and solids, panama and fez, and so on. Who's with me?) Additionally, I like how the sand in the shallows can be seen as tan lines and patches due to the angles of sun, waves and you. Glimpses of another kingdom. This is the kind of picture one treasures. My dog at play.
Thank you.

Break time

Break time

Comment:
What jumps out first are the smiles, the sense of playfulness and ease. I don't make out, though it's possible, undertones of hostility. As we in America come to an increased focus on the terrible consequences of a history of violence, oppression, fear and unkindness, I hope I correctly see this sparring as one more incident of normal, human interaction. The gentleman on the left seems to beckon us in. I'm not a pollyanna, though, and see this movement as a positive step on a long trek. Amidst all the visual clamor the bright white reflective stripes on the workmen's vests serve to establish a motif that introduces some order and a place for the eyes to rest. Black and white treatment also allows the background to resolve into a complex melange of shapes. Nicely seen.
Thank you.
