i really like this straightforward shot. lighting is a bit hot but i think it works fairly well. i think it might work even better with a lighter colored background for a totally highkey effect. great highlights in the hair and those eyes! the only other nitpick i have is the multiple catchlights in the eyes. this being an advanced editing challenge, it's the perfect opportunity to fix that with editing.

i'm fairly open-minded when it comes to what consists of 'fitting the challenge'...i have to admit, though, i can't see the connection here. i supposed it is shot in portrait orientation so you're not totally off-base. i just prefer that my portrait subjects at least be breathing. :)
