Week 5 - Lake Georgeby CapeSailComment: Originally posted by Melethia: If you can do handheld this nicely, skip the tripod - too heavy to be lugging around! There looks to have been a bit of haze on the day you took this (isn't there always?) Anyway, before you convert, try duplicating the layer and hitting it with a multiply or soft light blending mode to see if it cuts down on the haze. You may want to leave out the foreground and just do the rest if it gets too dark. Then you can "brighten" a bit, then convert. |
Will try that myself Melethia - thanks for the tip :)
Nice one Jeff, until I read your notes I thought it was a crop of one image. Now you made me look for the joins! looks like 5 portrait shots stitched? I can make out the first join (just) in the sky.
Great spot, it must have been an awesome sight first hand and well worth the trek. |

Your-Chariot-Awaits---Take-Your-Pick!by 777STANComment: I too love old cars, they are just more interesting than todays cars (though my little Brabus could be out of the 60's).
Sounds like you spent a good deal of time editing this shot Stan. The sky issue on the trees and tops of the cars has been mentioned but everything else is spot on and love the softness you gave the cars. Are they yours? |

04 - Posts and Chainsby ErikVComment: Was totally lost as to the subject in the thumb then this great image popped into view! The repetition is great and the chains/posts/ice contrast well against each other. Very nice conversion to B&W and suits the image well imho. |

Junk Wallby BAMartinComment: In a strange way this reminds me of my Dads wall in the garage, he hung all his tools then painted around them so he instantly knew which tool he'd misplaced (didn't help him find them though).
Nice capture of some strange things hanging, is that a trap I spy. This makes me wonder not just why they are there but what thought process made him/her choose those items? Maybe if you brought out the lovely texture in the bg a bit this would pop a little more? |

Porcelain Dollby dainmcgowanComment: Yup, reckon Nostalgic is the right word. I do like you choice of duotone her though do wonder how it would look in distressed sepia?
Beautiful model and an excellent portrayal of her that I can't really fault. |

650170by undieyatchComment: The horizon is a little too central for me and maybe more river or sky would help a little. No need to mention the water. Definately worth another visit? often barren scenes with something like the chimneys bellowing smoke work really well. |

05-Summerby SandyPComment: were you so happy submitting this you forgot to add the lens/exif info Sandy?
I thought the shot of Jordan last week was about as good as it gets but this is truly remarkable :) ok, beautiful models help and you captured her so well. That bokeh is to die for! (50/1.8?). nothing I can think of to improve this - excellent work Sandy (I've come to expect it from you now and look forward to each weeks submission).
*edited to say*
oops, my comment about Jordan was wrong and have to admit to skipping forwards to pick out the pretty girls - guess I've been caught out lol. Message edited by author 2008-03-02 15:24:59. |

Week 07 - Black Iceby KenComment: I'd probably have stopped with the colour version as 'the shot'. as people have said the 2 versions are poles apart in what the viewer sees. Fantastic descision to convert to B&W. might be fun to print them both large and hang on your wall (if there is any space left lol). |

Week 2 - Coloringby wickee_oneComment: First off its nice to know Cartesia is up and about feeling better again :)
Love the shot and the butterfly 'tatts' are fun. Some serious concentration going on in her facial expressions and I'm sure you'll be looking at this shot lots when she is all grown up. |

Week 7 - Trail Creekby wickee_oneComment: For me I think its a little too oof and makes me a little dizzy trying to fix my eyes on any particular area. am sure this effect would work better then the picture is printed large and you can view from further away? Its kind of enchanting. |
