I really like this type of image; the several layers of contrasts are often visible around this part of the world, with the fog at several levels. Additionally, I'm proud to be in the bay area, this is an iconic view in my opinion.

Eerie. I once saw something like this while riding northbound on 395 east of the Sierras in May a few years back. The waves never did crash over, but when I turned west the next day, I got to ride in a snow storm. Later, rain never felt so warm.

Perhaps more contrast in the darker parts of the mountains would enhance this image.
