ESPNby jmleliiComment: Lighting on this does not help the photo, I think. The subject is too dark and the sky is too bright. A different time of day maybe would help? I prefer to see magazine cover shots in a portrait layout.
Subject and composition appear very "snap shot" with little interest. |

Bird Timesby pitsamanComment: To much of the photo out of focus, I think. A larger dof would help, imo. I don't like the extreme close up all that much. I would have backed off just a bit for the shot.
Cute subject. |

"Cook's Illustrated"by daisy77Comment: You might get some points knocked off for the effects, but I think it's done perfectly! Simple, but very well done, I believe. I think this would make a wonderful cover. |

Antique Review (special sewing issue)by LouisonComment: Very nice tones and subject. I would have liked a different composition for a magazine cover. Horizontal can be used, but I think most folks can envision a "cover" better by using a portrait layout.
I think technically, this is very nice with the lighting and focus. |

Your Gardenby MonaComment: I think this is a really nice macro shot. I would get rid of the border, based on the challenge of it being a magazine cover. |

Mojo Music Magazineby TallblokeComment: I really have never cared for portraits with lighting only on one side of a face. This one also looks a little soft....not quite sharp enough on the eye. |
