Lord, Give Me Strengthby TikicharmComment: I really like shots like these. I would like it better if both crosses were fully visable. I would also crop it a little bit closer and straighten the shot. I like the fact that the blue doesn't seem overly saturated. |

That's right! I'm glad you like it! You will learn a lot on this site about what will make your photos interesting to other people as well, but it is important to enjoy your photography - have fun with it, and take shots of what's important to you. Welcome! |

Washington Monument Nightby BAMartinComment: Very pretty. I'm not sure I like the color of the shot...it's kind of yellowish. Your pictures make me want to go back to DC for some photos! We were there last spring, but I only had my Mavica fd92. |

It Is Finishedby jpochardComment: Originally posted by pcody: I thought it was a painting also, but thought I'd come look at the photographers comments before I commented. Now I can recognize the Christ figure from your posts in the forums(somewhat unfair because it removes the element of anonymity). The post processing adds to the feeling of pain and anguish in the picture. Very good work on all the pictures. This is my favorite. |
I hadn't even thought about the fact that someone might connect this photo with the others I posted about the Easter production. I just thought they would be a timely subject last week before Easter.
Thanks for your comments. |

Hi Jpochard...
This is indeed an interesting concept :) 1" is a pretty long shutter speed for a shot of this type, but you seem to have pulled it off rather nicely :) I think you have conveyed a feeling of a headache very well. I can feel the world spinning around me and empathize with the pressure from this photo.
As stated in my original comment, I gave this photo a 5. I think it could be improved in several ways. After seeing your method and camera settings, I can probably say that 1" may have been more than necessary. I don't know if you tried 1/4 and 1/2, but it may have been worth while. I don't think the background blur needs to be particularly extreme to convey this feeling that you have presented here. It may have also reduced the amount of post processing required to finish the shot. My Sony 707 made really nice images at ISO 100, but this one seems a bit noisy in the background, and that may have come from the post processing of the levels and color.
This is indeed an excellent idea. I think you should pursue it again and try to perfect it :)

Thanks John...I appreciate the critique quite a bit. I did run this image through Neat Image, but could never really come up with results that I liked. I did receive several comments about the noise, and I think you maybe be right about the shutter speed. Thanks again! |

This room was cleaned with to much chaos!!by tolovemoonComment: I really don't understand the title at all, but no points off for that. Lot's of stuff here, but a mess just doesn't say "chaos" to me. Technically it's in focus and lit okay, but the subject just doesn't hold my interest at all. |

Chaos in the workshop!by maelmsComment: Ok shot. A mess just doesn't say chaotic to me really. Still, at least you made some effort with lighting and composition instead of piling them on the table and snapping a shot. |

Spilling Almondsby darcyComment: Good depth of field study, but doesn't strike me as chaotic. I would also lose the border. |
