black, white and pinkby claudia26Comment: I think the glass detracts from the shot. The flower against the black and white would have been a cleaner, more dramatic look I think. Nice clear focus on the flower, and interesting idea. |

"Everything's Rosy"by TressiderComment: Not bad at all. I wish the shadows weren't quite so harsh. It just doesn't have the "reach out and touch it" feel to the lighting, if that makes sense. It's definitely pink, and I like the composition. Good job. |

Karate Kitten!by mocabelaComment: My daughter loves this shot! She laughed when I showed it too her. It is really a great catch. |

Just Like Heavenby mocabelaComment: I really like the tones here and the contrasts. I don't think it's too dark...but that's how I like my shots too. Beautiful scene, captured very well. |

Hummingbird Feasting on a Pink Gladiolaby OFreasierComment: The fact that you got it at all is impressive! I'd love to get one of a hummer, but they sure are fast! This one is pretty good. I know you probably would have preferred getting closer. Have you tried cropping this one and seeing how the quality holds up? Just a thought. |

Sleeping Faerieby OFreasierComment: This is really an adorable photo of your daughter. I hope you have it printed out and framed or in a scrapbook. You did a good job getting rid of the background. There's just the right amount of softness to the shot. Great job! |

Daffodilby SteveJComment: Pretty! I think I would have either cropped it in closer, concentrating almost 100% on the flower and leaving out most of the background - or had it out a little more, increasing the background and placing the flower more in it's element. I guess I'm saying that I would change the composition. It's a lovely flower and a great subject to shoot.
You might also consider bumping up the saturation just a bit, but not over doing it. The nice thing about flowers is that they don't get bored...take many shots from different angles and lighting. Sometimes even backlighting on the petals looks cool. Thanks for sharing!

5.jpgby maxjComment: Looks like a long way down! I like the angle here...it looks almost like he's hanging onto the tree in the background. Your colors and exposure are also good. Pity you can't see the face from this angle, but I still think it's a neat shot. |

Grass Catby agrimaceComment: Okay, you said you'd like some feedback so I'll jump in.
I gave your photo a 4. I did so because I felt the subject wasn't interesting to me at all, and because I didn't like the composition or the lighting as well. To me, it seemed very cut off on the left. I didn't feel like there were any real impactful features of the shot...the colors seem pretty bland and lighting flat to me, the composition as stated above, and (I'm sorry) but I think the grass covered cat is not pretty at all.
It was in focus and the exposure seemed right, although perhaps just a shade dark.
I'm sorry I don't see the same thing in it as you do, but I suppose that's the way it works many times. If it makes you feel any better, I thought my 2004 shot should have scored better too :) !
Hope the feedback is helpful. I don't intend to offend, but wanted to answer why someone might score it low as I felt I did. |
