Friendshipby LKMoteComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
What a great shot of that butterfly with the contrasting bright red of the flower!
Now, I realize that with nature subjects, you can't always get your subject to pose just the way you want. So, this instance, I think that if you flipped this image counter-clockwise so that the flower is on the left, and the butterfly on the right, it would go a long way towards helping the composition. (butterflies seem to feed from any angle, so it would not seem unnatural) Also, I would have loved to see that entire cluster of red blossoms included in the image. And of course, the 'frosting on the cake' if the whole thing could have been centered in the frame.
Still, it's a good image, and I wish you good luck in future entries in DPC. |

Local Interestby ArtanComment: Greetings from the Critique Club:
This very pleasant image makes me think of a villa in the South of France.
Compositionally, it's nicely balanced, left against right, the colors are great, and all the proportions work. Reflections in the pool are just delightful. Technically, at least on my screen, everything that needs to be sharp is sharp.
Perhaps the title was the culprit in your rather low score for such a good image. "All Occasion Card" or some other generic saying might have triggered a better response than your "Local Interest" title. Hard to say.
Good luck in future DP Challenges. I look forward to seeing more of your work. |

Hard to Miss You When I'm Hereby troyloxComment: Greetings from the Critique Club
What a lovely image. Great colors, good composition, excellent depth of field. I don't have any suggestions to make to 'improve' this photograph.
While I see you received some complimentary comments on your title, I rather think the title is what brought your score down a bit. Maybe something like "wish you were here" would have been more appealing to the average voter.
I can only wish you continued success in your participation in DPC and look forward to seeing more of your work. |

Thinking Of Youby beautyqn25Comment: Greetings from the Critique Club
The silk rose on a pink background is certainly an appropriate subject for a Greeting Card.
I have a couple of suggestions for this image. First, the pink shade you chose (imo) is just a touch strong; you might try muting it. Also, if the rose was further away from the background, you would stand a better chance of eliminating the shadows. Then, compositionally, if the rose was placed more to the left of the frame it would keep the viewer in the picture longer.
Finally, my camera club judges always stress the importance of "border patrol." That would take care of that partial leaf in the lower section of the image. (I always seem to see that stuff after the image has been submitted.)
I wish you the best of luck in future Challenges!
